This year we are visiting my family in Texas for Thanksgiving so I wanted our family to do something for the holiday. So we did a ‘Thankful’ tree. I got the idea a couple of months ago from another blog and I finally made the family write 3-4 things they were thankful for. I’m hoping to make it a tradition so we look back over the years and see what changes.
Our tree has the typical things like family and health. Jacob is thankful for his sister and our dog. The not so traditional but not surprising items are Walt’s Garmin watch, modern technology (i.e. text messaging and our Iphones), chocolate and a great pair of jeans (those last two are mine).
The project was super easy. I used sticks collected from the yard. I used this leaf template from Martha Stewart. I copied the image into Word and then shrank the leaf to create different size templates. I cut the leaf patterns and then traced it on scrapbook paper. After having member of my family write on the leaf, I hot glued it to the tree.
Here are a couple of other thankful tree ideas and templates you can use.

What a great idea and with very little cost. I think we all need to do that and just be thankful for the “little things” in life that we often forget….like friends like you. Have a safe trip. I am staying here in JAX this year and eating with my 91 yr old Dad and his wife. Christmas in Tallahassee with Barry.hugs to all…Sue
