My husband and I are very dedicated to our hobbies. He loves to run and I love to craft, decorate and design. I don't let him use the word obsessed because it makes us seem crazy. Instead, I describe it as we are "passionate" about our interests. Well, I'm breaking our rule and saying it – I'm obsessed with Smoothie King's Peanut Butter Banana smoothies!! The Elvis Presley as my husband calls it.
I have been searching the internet and trying different Peanut Butter Banana smoothie recipes and I have finally found one that comes close! It's super yummy and the good news is it's easy to make and packed with nutritional value (calcium, potassium and protein)!
Here's the recipe I used (courtesy Fun and Food Blog)
1 banana – cut into 3-4 pieces
1/2 scoop low-fat vanilla ice-cream (optional,you can use vanilla yogurt too)
1 tsp vanilla extract or essence (I skip this – call it laziness although I occasionally add a dash of Truvia or Splenda)
1 tbsp peanut butter
1 tbsp whey protein powder
4-6 ice cubes
3 tbsp milk
Pour in a tall glass and enjoy chilled! See how easy it is? Throw everything in a blender and push a button!! I use our Magic Bullet because it's easier to access than our blender. I've made this my breakfast routine and I can attest that it's delicious and satisfying. You can also substitute regular milk for skim milk, soy milk or almond milk to reduce the calories!
