Bird Scene Scrapbook Canvas Art

I have been swapping furniture between the Jacob and Lily's room, entryway and office to create a temporary nursery in our playroom. In the midst of all the change, I am integrating turquoise into Lily's nursery to tie a few new pieces together. Having so many projects going at once slows down the completion of any one room but I'm excited about many of the changes.

With Baby #3 due to arrive this week, I plan to take it easy and keep posts brief. I thought it would be a great time to share a quick and easy DIY art piece I created for Lily's room. I absolutely love it!!

I saw this bird art painting on one of my favorite blogs Under The Sycamore (see inspiration below).

Materials to Make Scrapbook Canvas Art

The materials consisted of a canvas, scrapbook paper, scissors, mod podge, brown paint, a paint brush and foam brush.

I followed Ashley's tutorial by sketching branches on a canvas with a pencil.

I cut scrapbook leaves, a bird and a beak and arranged and rearranged the pieces on the canvas.

I glued the leaves, bird and beak to the canvas using Mod Podge.

I traced the pencil line with brown paint and used a black permanent marker to draw the eye.

And finally I sealed the whole canvas with Mod Podge using a foam brush.

I keep canvases, scrapbook paper, paint brushes and mod podge on hand at all times so I only had to buy the brown paint which was on sale for $0.50. You can't beat that!! But you can easily make this for $10-12 or even less if you use a coupon for the canvas and/or mod podge.

I'm still trying to figure out the wall gallery where this will reside so more to come!

Thanks for stopping by! I welcome your comments and questions!!
