It's coming down to just a matter of days. At almost 39 weeks with a c-section scheduled for Friday, Walt and I are filled with mixed emotions! We are so excited to meet this little guy, but at the same time we are anxious and feel unprepared. This morning Walt pulls me into his arms and asks me "what we were thinking"? He was joking of course but I'm a little nervous too!! We have been so busy with Lily and Jacob that time has flown by and we just can't believe that in a couple of days we will be parents to a newborn. Yes, we've been here before and we know the drill and maybe that is why we are nervous.
We are ready from the perspective we've stocked weeks worth of diapers and wipes, washed several onesies, blankets, sheets, socks and towels. We pulled all the baby gear out of the attic, we've stocked up on hand sanitizers and a freezer full of frozen foods and we even bought the other two children "baby arrival" gifts. But how do you prepare for the c-section recovery, the sleepless nights, the sheer exhaustion of caring for a newborn but this time with a toddler in tow? Do you know? I don't so we just keep with our routines. I keep crafting, Walt keeps running, we keep the kids on their routines and just go with the flow. I may need someone to remind me about that going with the flow part in a week.
Anyway, with just a couple of days left, I thought I'd take a few last What I Wore Pregnant pics.
The first is just a belly shot. Walt took this last week and I'm actually shocked at how small my belly looks (this is why I love ruched tops during pregnancy). Don't be deceived. I've gained 42 pounds and our last ultrasound indicates the baby is about 9 pounds. I'm actually shocked that I can still wear jewelry. The top and Jeans from A Pea in the Pod
What I Wore my last day of work. I am sooo over maternity clothes. I'm ready to throw the pair of heels that I've been wearing almost everyday for 4 months away and maybe my work pants! I love the necklace though!! I needed a pick me up so I bought the droplet necklace from J.CrewFactory online. I've seen it in the store for $150 but this modified version was on sale for $69 at the online factory. I'm not sure it goes with the outfit but I received it in the mail the day before and couldn't resist giving it a try.
The dress below is my attempt to stay cool. Temperatures reached 104+ in Charlotte this past weekend and our poorly insulated house lingered at 85 inside. It has not been fun but I'm lucky I made it this far without having to deal with it. The dress is a non-maternity dress by Valerie Bertinelli (from TJMaxx). and the necklace is a DIY project you can find here.
Lastly, was my day out and about with Jacob.
We had a great time! We ran a few errands and went to see Spiderman. It was great having some 1:1 time. We talked, joked around and laughed. It was great to see how excited he is about his brother and how worried he is about his sister and how she will adapt. Shirt isSolitaire (TJMaxx – non maternity), shorts are Motherhood and necklace is another great J.Crew Factory online purchase for $20 something (no longer available).
That's it for now!! Hope you have a great Fourth of July!! I may try to squeeze one more post in before the baby is born but if not have a great weekend too! I'm off to fill the kiddie pools and turn on the sprinklers for the kids.
