Branch Sculpture Art

A couple of months ago, I came across the absolutely adorable home tour of Kate and Allen Woodrow on Design Sponge. While many of their sneak peek pictures inspired me, the paper garland branch sculpture was an inexpensive, completely doable project I had to add to our home. And it was actually a project my husband thought was cool.

All you need is:

  • a branch
  • twine or string
  • scrap paper – it’s best to use paper that is double sided
  • scissors
  • a needle (I didn’t the right size needle so I tied the string to a nail head and used a nail to thread the string through the paper)

The project is super easy!!!

  1. Cut the paper in 2 inch strips. I used colors to match our current bedding.
  2. Fold the paper like an accordian.
  3. Round the edges. Be sure not to cut the folds.
  4. Thread the string through the paper cut outs.
  5. Tie the string to the branch and spread out the accordian folded paper.

I used jute twine to hang the branch.

Ta-da! I love the natural element it brings to the room. And what’s even better is it cost next to nothing! The branch currently hangs over our headboard. I planned to put a mirror there but this is cheap alternative until I finalize those plans.

{Yellow flower pillow is from Target, yellow ruffle pillow is from Etsy, grey flower pillow is from West Elm.}

Below is my inspiration photo via Design Sponge. I only used one strand of garland but I may go back and add more?

Hope you enjoy!
