Fall Pumpkins, Wheat Leaves and Pinecones

With school back in session, football season in full swing and the recent drop in temperatures, it’s starting to feel like Fall. Furthermore, I went shopping to buy a few work outfits {to tie me over until I can get back in my pre-pregnancy wardrobe} and the racks were filled with fall fashion. I couldn’t resist the urge to adorn the house with a few of my favorite Fall inspirations.

First up is the dining room which remains a work in progress.

With my return to work this week, I kept the decorating in this room simple (and easy) aka, there is not a lot of DIY here.  I cut a strip of burlap to use as the table runner.I like the rugged look so I didn’t even take the time to trim the edges. I used a lighter color burlap to provide a bit of contrast against the mahogany table. I love the natural and neutral look of burlap that I fully expect to reuse the ‘runner’ in the spring or in another craft.

As mentioned, in the It’s Almost Fall post, I was contemplating a pumpkin style. I decided on the colorful ceramic pumpkins from Kirkland’s. I just loved the blue. It was a far stretch from anything I’ve used in the Fall but I thought two may be too much so I mismatched them. I added a few smaller pumpkins from the Dollar store and then wrapped a few votives with paper leafs (using paper grocery bags) and twine.

I sprinkled a few pinecones on the table to complete the look.

Lastly, I swapped summer flowers for a more vibrant Fall flower, tied a bit of raffia to an Ikea pitcher.

I placed the vases from last year's Fall mantel on the kitchen window seal and called it a day (for decorating at least). I recruited Lily to help make a batch of baked smores –yum! I hope to blog the recipe soon but I've been too busy eating them {and then complaining how I can’t lose these last 15 poundsblush}.

There are so many more Fall projects on my list but it’s probably best to spread them throughout the house so more to come! I hope you return to check them out!

  3. Good Morning! I just saw you on the link up at The Lettered Cottage. I absolutely love your dining room tablescape. The blue pumpkin is perfect! I would be nervous about it at first too, but it turned out beautifully! I'm thinking I might have to make a trip to Kirkland's :) Thanks for the inspiration!
