I'm finally catching up on a few projects I did when I was on maternity leave. I thought it was time high time to post a few quick and easy projects.
I wanted something inexpensive to hang over our kitchen window. I'd plan to spell out the word E.A.T but before I had time to purchase the letters, I stumbled on a scrap piece of wood and thought I'd try that instead. What did I have to lose?Materials included a piece of 1×6, stain, paint, paint brushes and print out of the word EAT (
1. Stain wood with a dark stain. I used Mahogany because I had it on hand.
2. Paint wood with a white or antique paint.
3. Trace template.
4. Paint within the trace outline.
5. Sand the wood to give it an aged look.
If you are looking for another way to distress wood, I stumbled across this method on Shanty 2 Chic. She used paint instead of stain (which is cheaper) and vaseline. I'm going to try this next time!
After I made the EAT sign, I came across this sign that would be a great reminder to my kiddos.
What wall art do you have in the kitchen?
Thanks for stopping by!
